Another idea if you don't know what to write about yourself in your profile is to ask a couple friends to write a paragraph about you, and what your good qualities are. I wouldn't write "my friends would say....about me" in your profile, but you can adapt it into your own interpretation.

Meeting someone online is a great way to start out with a safe and comfortable distance. Once you find someone with potential, the transition, as you mention, is not always easy. I think an informal date is a great idea and a lower-pressure way to see if the connection you've made carries over to an in-person relationship.

I love the idea of an evaluation date and have tried meeting in person with a chat mate for the purpose of 'testing the waters'. The problem is... if you don't like each other in person but you love talking to each other through chat... do you keep chatting (even if there seems to be no future?). Sometimes, people do judge others by appearance, and it sucks that there are some would-be promising couples who never get over the 'appearance' phase. Thanks for the linky, I love your site!
